Sommarparken

Something new is happening in Döbelns Park this summer. The park will become Umeå’s new outdoor living room and summer park – a place filled with music, quizzes, stand-up comedy, workouts, flea markets and much more. Kids can look forward to summer fun with a mini amusement park, Magiska Magna, Dolly Style and Ghost Laban. Sit back on the grass, stay awhile and see what’s happening. Sommarparken is a collaboration between Visit Umeå and Umeå Municipality, transforming Döbelns Park into a vibrant and welcoming meeting place during the summer.

No matter which day you visit the park, you’ll find something Little extra to make your summer day complete. You’ll always find food trucks, outdoor games to borrow (kubb, giant Yatzy, giant chess, and more), and hammocks for the ultimate summer chill. Culture for Seniors presents ”Johnny Cash & me”. Bosse ”Bob” Sjöbom has been called "Sweden's Johnny Cash" due to his similarity to Johnny’s deep, soulful voice. In this concert, he performs a series of well-known hits, as well as his own songs in the same style.

FAQ

How do I get to Döbelns park?

Döbelns park is centrally located in Umeå, within walking distance from Vasaplan. The easiest way to get here is by taking a bus to Vasaplan, followed by a short walk to the park. Map directions to the park.

Bicycles and electric scooters are not allowed in the park. You are more than welcome to cycle to the park, but please do not ride inside it.

Is there parking nearby?

Yes, there is parking nearby. The most convenient option is to look for parking along Östra Strandgatan, which is located just below the park. If it happens to be full, you will find several parking garages around central Umeå.

Is it free to visit Sommarparken?

Most of the program events in Sommarparken are completely free of charge. There are exceptions, so to be absolutely sure about the guidelines for the specific event you want to attend, please check the organizers' own pages via the links in the program.

What are the opening hours for Sommarparken?

Döbelns park is open 24/7, but Sommarparken's activities run between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM during the period from June 25 to August 2.

What happens if it rains?

In case of rain, certain program events might potentially have to be canceled, and this decision is up to each individual organizer. Keep an eye on the event page to stay updated on any changes.

Are there toilets nearby?

An accessible toilet / RWC is available adjacent to the park during the days and hours when the park events are running (Thursday–Sunday, 12:00 PM–5:00 PM).

Is there food available for purchase?

Yes, it will be possible to buy food from the food trucks stationed in the park from Thursday to Sunday.

Is Sommarparken wheelchair/fully accessible?

The pathways in Döbelns park are graveled and are kept clear of objects and obstacles so that visitors can easily move around the park. The entrance from Östra Strandgatan slopes steeply up towards the park, while the entrance from Storgatan is flat. Accessibility may vary across other areas, such as the lawns with furnished seating.

Are dogs allowed in the park?

Yes, they are allowed, but must be kept on a leash.
