Explore beautiful nature areas near the city with child-friendly activities along the way. Cycle on mountain bike trails or visit one of the fun bike parks! Here, we've gathered our top tips.
A local classic - Umeälvdal
Easy cycling route mainly on smooth asphalt or gravel roads. Along this route, there are several fun stops to make, such as at Umeå Energy Center, which offers activities for all ages as well as a café and adventure playground for children. Turn in at Baggböle Herrgård and try to find the secretly located artwork 811 "Buddha" or explore the lush greenery of Arboretum Norr. The total distance is 25 km but can be divided according to desired activities and sights!

Explore Tavelsjö Trail
Experience diverse nature with pine bogs, streams, lakes, rare plants, caves and hills with fantastic views. The Tavelsjö Trail offers exciting cycling and plenty of rest areas for coffee breaks. The terrain varies greatly from bike paths, smooth trails, and gravel roads in agricultural landscapes to rocky and steep sections.

SCA Multiarena - A unique place for multiple activities. At the arena, there's a track for the kids, one of Sweden's largest dirt parks, new cross-country trails, arena space, a technical area, and boules courts. Read more and find your way here!
Nydala cykelpark - The bike and pump track at Nydala is open and accessible 24/7 for everyone. The facility is located next to Nydala Badet. The tracks are suitable for balance bikes, MTBs, and BMX bikes. Read more and find your way here!

If you have slightly older children and want to try a different and "adrenaline-rush" activity, then a visit to Kassjöbacken to try Mountain Carting might be just the thing for you!
Mountain Carting and downhill at Kassjöbacken
Mountain Carting is a thrilling, fun, and exciting activity on the hillside. Experience the excitement and the fantastic views over Kassjö village as you zip down the tracks at Kassjöbacken. Take the chairlift back up the mountain and try out one of the other tracks. Or experience Umeå's longest downhill track at 900 meters. The downhill tracks offer great variation, accessible to everyone, regardless of age and skill level.
